Randy grew up in Noblesville, Indiana and graduated from Ball State University with a BFA in Graphic Design and Commercial Photography. He has lived in Cedar Falls since 2000 and after working at UNI for 12 years he started his own freelance business.

Tell us about your family: I happen to be married to Janelle Darst, the Director of Children’s Ministry here. We joined CHCPC and were married in 2005 by former head pastor, Cathy Young, at an outside ceremony on Janelle’s family farm in Clarksville. We are blessed to have two children, Mitchell (2006) and Marie (2008), who were baptized here and were confirmed here in 2021. We also have two dogs, Bosco and Rolo.
Who are people that inspire you? Richard Avedon, Adrian Frutiger and Frank Foster (former college photo prof.)
What is one thing that most people don’t know about you? I’m an audiophile.
Do you have any weird quirks? I might have a little OCD.
What is your least favorite thing to do? Pickup dog poo after the snow melts.
Hidden Talent? It may take me longer than a contractor, but I can build a quality deck or do small remodeling jobs.
What makes you laugh? My kids making fun of their mom’s loud laugh!
What is your biggest fear? Those things out of my control.
Favorite Music, Movies or TV Shows: Dave Matthews Band, Van Morrison and Brandi Carlile. Silence of the Lambs – I know, but it was just so well done!
