BA Central College; MA University of Northern Iowa. He worked in collegiate recreation and taught at UNI for almost 40 years before retiring in July 2021. He grew up in Oelwein as the oldest of 7 kids.

Fun Facts about tim

How long have you served CHCPC? Cindy and I became members at Cedar Heights in 1984. I began serving as custodian in 2002 (with a short break August 2021 to January 2022). I have served as an elder and deacon, served on various committees, and worked with high school youth group for about 10 years.

Tell us about your family: My wife Cindy and I will have been married 42 years May of 2023. We have 2 sons – Josh (Amy) and Colin, and daughter Kristi (Nick), plus two granddaughters, Alexandra (Alex) and Joey.

Who are people that inspire you? My parents and numerous teachers/coaches I had growing up.

What is one thing that most people don’t know about you? I’ve raced triathlons since 1981 (includes finishing 2 Ironman distance tri’s…an ironman distance is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and then a 26.2 mile marathon).

Do you have any weird quirks? Not that I can think of but I’m sure my wife might know a few, LOL!

What is your least favorite thing to do? Go shopping (but will if I need to)

Hidden talent? I can juggle tennis balls and spin a basketball on my finger (from high school and college basketball days)

What makes you laugh? Jeff Dunham the ventriloquist and his various characters.

What is your biggest fear? Having to drive on icy or snowy roads. I think it comes with age.

Favorite Music, Movies or TV Shows: Favorite music = classic 70’s/80’s/90’s rock ie: Van Halen and older and new contemporary Christian music; movies = sports related (Coach Carter, League of Our Own, Field of Dreams, Remember the Titans, plus the Top Gun movies); TV shows = Walker Texas Ranger, Andy Griffith, Criminal Minds, any older westerns.

Favorite Sports Team(s): Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, UNI Panther sports
